Cumbrian food producers bag a haul of Great Taste Awards

The announcement last week of the annual Great Taste Awards 2019 saw two of Cumbria’s finest producers among the winners. 

This year over 500 judges, including food writers, restaurant critics and chefs with some of the fussiest palates in the industry, come together to sample over 12,000 products, which they blind tasted and score purely on taste.

This year the judges from all corners of the food world came together in small teams of 3 or 4 during 65 tasting days held from March through to early July to decide this year’s star winners.

·         Lovingly Artisan picked up two awards:

2 star award for their Malted Barley Sourdough 

1 star award for their Cheese & Marmite Sourdough 

·         Hawkshead Relish picked up five awards, adding to their haul of 62 previous awards:

1 star award for their Cheeseboard  Chutney

1 star award for their Kashmiri Tomato Chutney

1 star award for their Fig & Orange Jam

1 star award for their Orange & Whisky Marmalade

1 star award for their Bloody Mary Ketchup

The three-star winners are put forward to battle it out in the Great Taste Golden Fork Awards, which are announced at a gala dinner held in London in September.
