EHL Ingredients spices up Christmas with new blends for food manufacturers and caterers

For an international twist on traditional Christmas recipes, Stockport’s EHL Ingredients has launched six new organic and conventional herb and spice blends.

It is offering food manufacturers and caterers a range of exciting blends for beef, game, fish and vegetables, a sweet mixed spice seasoning, and a gluhwein mix for wine, cider and alcohol-free warmed juices. All blends are vegan too so can be used on meat-free foods, squashes, as well as pulse, nut and alternative roasts.

The savoury blends incorporate traditional and more unusual seasonal herbs and spices, while the sweet mixed spices are perfect for Christmas puddings, stollen and fruit loaves as well as modern recipes, such as spiced orange and cranberry cake and mince pie variants.

EHL’s gluwein and cider blend includes a balanced combination of cinnamon, allspice, nutmeg, cloves, black pepper and ginger.

The blends include the following ingredients:

·       Beef – black pepper, chilli, cumin and coriander

·       Game – fennel, black pepper and juniper

·       Fish – lemon, pink peppercorns, dill, paprika and cumin

·       Vegetable – cumin, paprika, turmeric and black pepper

·       Sweet spice – cinnamon, allspice, cloves, nutmeg, black pepper and ginger

·       Gluhwein – cassia, ginger root, nutmeg, star anise, allspice and black pepper

The versatile festive blends are an exciting addition to the seasonal range designed to add alternative flavours and textures to Christmas dinners, and tap into consumers’ love of world cuisine.

EHL also offers a range of stuffing mixes in organic and conventional format, including a spicy cranberry and a nutmeg, cassia and black pepper mix to be incorporated into meat main course dishes, such as prepared turkey or beef joints, or used in dry format to create stuffing mixtures and balls.
