Executive Chef appointed to Board Of Directors at Liverpool based Red & Blue Restaurant group

Red & Blue Restaurants has announced that its Group Executive Chef, Matt Walsh, has been appointed to the company’s board of directors.

The team behind Bacaro, Salt House Tapas, Hanover Street Social and one of Liverpool’s most popular new dining destinations Rocket & Ruby, has promoted Matt following the outstanding performance and exotic culinary flair he’s bought to the business.

Matt joined in 2014 to head up the opening of Bacaro restaurant on Castle Street, which introduced a new fresh concept of Italian small plates designed to be combined and shared.

Following phenomenal success at Bacaro, he was promoted to Group Executive Chef in 2018 overseeing the rest of the company’s growing portfolio. Most recently he headed up the launch of Rocket & Ruby, which serves up a delicious selection of small plates, freshly made sandwiches and home baked goodies, as well as introducing an exciting new coffee window to Castle Street.

Co-owner Jonathan Poole said: “Bacaro was the third site to open for our group and Matt created a fantastic menu. Off the back of which he built a great reputation which has made Bacaro the success it is today. He’s continued to showcase his amazing talent at the launch of our latest venture Rocket & Ruby, which since launching last month has got off to an incredible start and been really well received.

“Matt is now running all four of our different, independently named restaurants in Liverpool, and we remain extremely proud of the high-quality standards we maintain across the group, which is down to the leadership and creativity of Matt and his team.

“We are now looking to expand our popular Bacaro Restaurant by opening a new site in Manchester in 2019 and with a reported like for like sales up 9.2% for the last quarter of 2018 we are confident that under Matt’s direction this will be another great addition to the Red & Blue Restaurants Group and a great start to the New Year”

Red and Blue Restaurants is a real Liverpool success story. It opened its first venture Salt House Tapas in July 2010, which specialises in Spanish small plates. Followed its success the team launched Hanover Street Social in August 2011, which was designed with a more modern brasserie style menu. In 2014, it opened Bacaro producing Italian small plates and the most recent being Rocket & Ruby in 2018.
