North West Food & Drink Means Business understands that Liverpool-based Real Good Food have completed their £1.8m disposal of the business and certain assets of Garrett Ingredients.
Garretts Ingredients, which had been part of Real Good Food since 20015, sources dairy, sugar and other specialist products before selling them to large, medium and small food manufacturers across the UK.
It has been purchased by Kent Foods, with The Real Good Food board believing the pair have more in common, noting that buyer’s skills and aptitude are “better suited to managing [Garrett’s] contracts”
A Walker Morris team comprising Richard Naish, Oliver Duke, Michael Taylor, Josh Waddington and Liz Deeley advised Real Good Food.
Naish said: “Through our specialist food and drink team at Walker Morris we’ve worked closely with a number of manufacturers and the wider food industry to develop our knowledge of the sector and provide comprehensive and commercially focused legal advice to our clients.
“As such, we’ve been delighted to work with Real Good Food for the first time on this transaction to enable them to work towards their corporate objectives.”
