Wrexham-based Village Bakery has gained additional listings for five of its products at Waitrose following the success of its existing range with the high end supermarket chain.
The new deal takes in three varieties of pancakes in buttermilk, blueberry and chocolate flavours, along with sourdough and five grain crumpets.
This latest success will no doubt inspire many aspiring food and drink businesses, as Village Bakery started out supplying just one Waitrose Store, in Menai Bridge, and are now stocked in 220 stores nationwide.
Village Bakery said the deal was a “massive boost”, having started out supplying just one Waitrose Store in Menai Bridge and now having lines in 220 stores nationwide.
Village Bakery Managing Director Robin Jones said “It’s a massive vote of confidence in the Village Bakery by Waitrose and it’s part of our ambition to take the Village Bakery brand to every retailer nationally,” said Jones.
“It’s the result of 12 months of hard work, developing the products, developing the relationship and the distribution. The response from Waitrose customers has been fantastic, we’ve had nothing but positive feedback.”
