Stockport-based Robinsons Brewery has been announced as the Official Brewery Partner for Manchester’s Royal Exchange Theatre and The Rivals Bar & Restaurant.
The new partnership will see the Stockport brewer providing its award-winning real ale, wines and spirits for visitors and audience members, as well as pledging its support for the Theatre and the work it does both on stage and in communities across the Greater Manchester Region.
Ben Robinson, Director of Sales at Robinsons Brewery, commented, “This is a very exciting partnership and is a sign of our long-term ambition in the region. The Royal Exchange Theatre is an iconic landmark in Manchester and one which we are very proud to support.
‘We’re delighted to not only serve theatre-goers but also to reach out to a much wider audience made up of Manchester locals and residents, students and visitors to the city. The Rivals is stunning and completely sound-proof.’
Robinson continued, ‘So, in addition to promoting the wonderful productions that are available to the theatre crowd, it’s also important to let people know that they can come and enjoy a meal and a drink at any time, even when a performance is on the stage. We look forward to working with the Royal Exchange Theatre, The Rivals Bar, and their customers over the coming months.”
The Rivals Bar & Restaurant (pictured) is housed in the Royal Exchange Theatre’s Great Hall. It opened in September 2017 and serves beautiful modern British cuisine from acclaimed Head Chef Anna Fysh.
Named after the very first production at the theatre back in 1976, ‘The Rivals’ is run by Goska Langrish and former Corrie actor Rupert Hill; who also co-owns two other successful Robinsons’ venues: The Castle Hotel in Manchester and the Baker’s Vaults in Stockport.
Val Young, Development Director for the Royal Exchange, added, “We are thrilled to be working with Robinsons Brewery. This partnership combines our own expertise of theatre, live events and great customer experiences with the generosity of Robinsons hospitality and their unrivalled knowledge and passion for real ale. We are delighted to have them on board for the next 2 seasons.”
