TEA+, the Yorkshire vitamin-infused tea brand that successfully pitched for investment on Dragon’s Den has secured a new national listing.
The Harrogate-based business has launched into 250 SuperDrug stores nationwide following an appearance in 2018 on the BBC2 programme, in which they secured investment from Tej Lalvani, Chief Executive of vitamin manufacturer Vitabiotics.
The new listing adds to the recent launched into 730 Holland & Barrett stores and 500 Boots stores across the UK and Ireland.
TEA+ founder James Dawson set up the company after spotting a gap in the healthy hot drink market. At the time, he was living in Dubai selling software brands for IBM and his wife was working in a high-pressure financial services role.
Dawson said: “Because of our hectic lifestyles, between working, commuting and socialising, we found it hard to keep on top of our health. We tried to be as health-conscious as possible but would regularly forget to take supplements and it’s easy to let your diet slip when you’re working long hours.
“I saw functional water, juices, yoghurts, but nothing in the healthy hot drinks space. With so many busy professionals drinking hot drinks throughout the day, we knew this was the area we wanted to shake up. Our mission was create blends of vitamin-infused tea with evidence-based science to back up the health claims around areas such as immunity, energy and muscle function.”
Tej Lalvani, Chief Executive of Vitabiotics, added: “TEA+ is a truly innovative and exciting addition to the Vitabiotics product portfolio, and we are thrilled about becoming a long-term partner. The hot drink space is constantly evolving and we’re confident the relaunched product range will appeal to a broad spectrum of health-conscious consumers who are maintaining busy lifestyles. We’re delighted that the brand will be able to benefit from the expertise of Vitabiotics to sit at the forefront of innovation in healthy hot drinks and take the category in a direction it’s never been before.”
